Paul continues his amazing, revelatory writing with the following:
. . . growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1: 10– 14
What amazes me about these verses is that they are just Paul’s preamble— his opening remarks and greeting. He’s not even warmed up yet, but his words are steeped in truth; they are weighty with incredible revelation.
We could draw so much from these words to focus our attention on. They hold so many important themes: being strengthened by God’s glory in us, endurance and patience being built into our characters, being translated from the kingdom of darkness to light, redemption, forgiveness. Let’s pick just one thing for today.
Your Father has qualified you. He has included you in the inheritance of the saints. You belong.
Do you feel ill-equipped for the challenges ahead of you? Father has qualified you.
Do you feel under-resourced? He has qualified you.
Do you feel unprepared? He has qualified you.
Do you feel you’re not talented enough? No, you are qualified.
Do you feel like you’re always second best? Not to Father. You are qualified.
From before the foundations of the earth, our Father saw you and wanted you to belong. He called you. He saved you. He made you one of His own.
He qualified you. That makes all the difference.
