So much darkness exists in our world. But when we are full of the presence of God, full of Holy Spirit, we are no longer afraid to confront the hellish darkness.
Once I visited one of my favorite churches in America and gave an altar call for the young people. Many came forward, but I noticed one young man who was reacting strongly to God’s presence. I love it when the joy of the Lord comes or when His peace comes and people are resting in His presence. But I love it more when the ballistic power of Holy Spirit comes, and I can see something powerful is happening. This young man was literally vibrating under the power of God and yelling out. It looked frightening if you’d never seen it before— and even if you had.
I went over to pray for him and asked him what was going on. He said God had told him to help me bring in all the children He wanted to rescue. He was saying yes to God. He was prepared to give his life away to do what God wanted him to do.
I have heard a lot of people say a lot of things while they are being touched by God. I’ve also witnessed a lot of people abort the promises of God in their lives before they reach full term. But I was thrilled to see this young man’s authentic commitment. He came out to Mozambique. He watched, listened and learned. He spent time with us. He spent time with the poor, and he began rescuing kids off the street.
He was around 22 when I met him. Now, at the age of 28, he is living in India. He has over three thousand children in his care, many of whom he has “bought” out of the sex trade. He is winning little children back for Father by the power of the Gospel. God has taken his radical commitment and used him to save many lives.
This teaches me that, regardless of the context of our lives, we should never stop believing God can both fill us and use us for His glory. God is able to display His glory through you, if you will cooperate with Him. He may take you to the other side of the world to do something for Him.
He may use you to do something you never expected in your own neighborhood.
The what, where and how don’t really matter.
What matters is that you come to Him and surrender yourself to His purposes.
Then He can make something amazing out of your life.
