But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love. 1 Corinthians 13: 13 The Message

If God is pouring out oil, I want to be a jar. I want to be an empty vessel. I want to make sure I am fully filled— full of Holy Spirit, fully impassioned with the love of Jesus.

I want to be fully filled with Him, so I am an answer in this world rather than a question. A solution, rather than a problem. I want to be part of Father God’s solution to the grief, suffering and sickness that exists in this world— not part of the problem. I don’t want to be a miserable little salt shaker that nothing comes out of. I want to give my life extravagantly. In Ephesians 1, Paul’s passion for Jesus spills over as he writes about the extravagance of our Savior. Verses 3– 14 tell us we are:

» Blessed with every possible spiritual blessing

» Chosen before the creation of the world

» Adopted as Father’s sons and daughters

» Redeemed and forgiven

» Given the plan of salvation, which is revealed to us through Christ

» Selected to receive the promised Holy Spirit Here is blessing on top of extravagant blessing, poured out on us by our all-loving Father.

How can we not respond to that with an extravagant offering?

We love Him because He first loved us. And our whole lives must become a fitting response to His love.

Won’t you join me in emptying out your life— in reckless devotion to Him— so He can fill you with all His fullness?
