When we are confident in our identity as precious, loved, adored children of God, it frees us. It frees us so we don’t need to knock other people down.
It frees us from the need to scramble for a position in this world in an attempt to feel like a “somebody.” It doesn’t matter whether we are a somebody or a nobody, because we are somebody in Daddy’s eyes— and His is the only opinion that counts.
When we are aware of our identity, we possess incredible dignity. And we confer that dignity onto every other human being we meet, because we realize we are all created in Father’s image and loved fully by Him. When we know who we are, we freely give our lives away for the sake of love. Just like Jesus.
During our ministry, we have been slammed against walls, had stones thrown at us, been flung into jail. But love compels us to continue. Truly we don’t count our lives as our own. Our lives don’t belong to us. We give ourselves for the sake of love and for the cause of Christ. We bless those who persecute us.
Jesus is looking for passionate lovers to populate His Kingdom— those who will lay down everything for the sake of His cause, those who don’t love their own lives so much that they’re not prepared to count the cost and give it all away for Him.
“The time is coming— indeed it’s here now— when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4: 23– 24 NLT).
Spirit-and-truth worshipers revere Father God with all their hearts, minds and beings. They are fully committed, holding nothing back. They worship Him with reckless devotion.
Let’s continue to give what we cannot keep in order to gain what we cannot earn.
