The Good News about the Kingdom of God

From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day (Matthew 16: 21). Notice that it says, “from that time on.” From what time? From the time when Jesus had given Peter and the disciples the keys to His Kingdom.

In other words, Jesus spent 15 chapters of Matthew teaching them how to drive the car and, in Chapter 16, He finally handed over the keys.

Then, from Matthew 16 to Matthew 28, Jesus built upon the Kingdom foundation that He laid down in the first 15 chapters. Isn’t this exciting?

Jesus transitioned the message because the disciples were ready to graduate. They finally understood the A, B, C’s of changing the world:

A) Let Me tell you about My Kingdom.

B) Let Me tell you what I am about to do.

C) Let Me show you what I have to do.

D) Let Me give you what you need to change the world.

It seems so amazing to me that the Kingdom message isn’t clearly taught in most churches. If Jesus started with these truths, why don’t we practice them?
