You've Been Promoted To Ambassador: You Represent The Kingdom Of God Wherever You Go
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5: 20).
Ambassador defined: "presbeuo" 2— to be a senior, act as a representative.
When you allow the Holy Spirit to take control of your life, you begin to walk in a new authority and earthly position. This earthly position is that of an ambassador for our King. An ambassador is a representative of the ruling authority. As people who’ve been forgiven of sins, filled with the Spirit of Jesus, and changed by His power, we’re called to represent in this world the interest of our homeland and our King.
Our daily prayer to our Father in heaven is “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6: 10). When we pray this way, we align ourselves with God’s will. He wants us to represent Him here on earth. We’ve been assigned the title of ambassadors with all the rights, powers and privileges that go along with it.
What are the rights, powers and privileges of our position? Good question. I’m glad you asked. Get ready for a serious identity lift. You’ve heard of a facelift, haven’t you? Well this reality is an identity lift. You can never see yourself the same way after you embrace this truth.
The Rights, Powers And Privileges Of An Ambassador
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven
(Matthew 16: 19).
Bind defined: "deo" 3— to bind (in various applications, literally or figuratively).
Loose defined: "luo" 4— to loosen (literally or figuratively).
Jesus clearly promised Peter the keys of the Kingdom of heaven. Keys always symbolize authority or the ability to unlock something. What are the keys that Jesus was alluding to? How could these keys help us bind and loose here on earth? Could it be that the keys are the secret that will help us bring the Kingdom of heaven down to the earth? Is this really the will of God for His ambassadors: to bring heaven’s laws, powers and reality to their earth?
