His Message Is Given To Us
And as you go, preach, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 10: 7).
Remember that this message is your first key: the Kingdom within you is greater than the kingdom of this world. The message that God has given to us is a key to unlock the hearts of men and women. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand… why? Good question. Because everywhere you go you bring it.
... nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17: 21).
And wherever you go you bring His rule. Why? Because the Kingdom living inside you, by His Spirit, overrules the principalities of this world. Wow! That’s what the seventy disciples discovered in Luke. They discovered that the Kingdom of God was upon them, and that the Kingdom within them was more powerful than earthly kingdoms:
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name” (Luke 10: 17).
Their initial mission was to heal the sick and tell people that the Kingdom was near. A simple task, isn't it? Was their mission accomplished? Absolutely! Plus, they discovered their authority over demonic powers and diseases. Why were the healings important? Because they demonstrated that these seventy had something from another place. They had power to destroy sickness in bodies. The power that the disciples received from Jesus was greater than the sickness and disease that crippled people's lives. Even demons were subject to them in His name. Can you imagine their surprise? They could heal the sick and cast out demonic powers. Amazing. All of this proved the veracity of their announcement: the Kingdom is near. It was one message backed with the power to substantiate it. Why was the message important? Because it revealed that God’s desire was to bring His Kingdom into their homes, businesses, relationships and even their own bodies. The healings were a foretaste of a heavenly reality. The message also spoke of the King that was coming to their town. Jesus was the coming King. When you and I walk into a room, we change the laws that govern that that environment. The King within us helps us to usher in a new atmosphere.
This is why it says, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4: 4).
Because Jesus is in your body, mind and spirit, you bring the Kingdom of heaven everywhere you go. The King that is in you is greater than the one that is temporarily running the world.
Don't forget that behind the kingdoms of this world lies a deceiver— the prince of the power of the air. He governs principalities and powers that are unseen; invisible groves that are dedicated to stealing, killing and destroying.
When the seventy returned, Jesus underlined the success of their foray: "I saw satan fall like lightning.” In other words, "Good job guys. I saw satan being dethroned from the high places because of your actions." Paul also illustrated this principle when he referred to our lives being like perfume:
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing (2 Corinthians 2: 14-15).
Perfume penetrates the oxygen in a room. The more perfume, the more people smell it. We are called to release a beautiful scent of heaven into eerie, foul environments. Did you know that you've been called a living epistle?
You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart (2 Corinthians 3: 2-3).
You are a living epistle. The end is not here yet. Our obedience to the Spirit will fill up volumes of good works being recorded in heaven.
