The Kingdom of God Has Come Upon You
But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the Kingdom of God has come upon you” (Matthew 12: 25-28).
I strategically use the gifts of the Spirit to influence the lost and win people to Christ. I use them to become like Barnabas: the son of encouragement. I've had so much fun using the fruit of the Spirit in our ministry in France. It's not about fancy programs or slick marketing. We went to France and just loved them.
The will of God is to use people like you and me to bring the Kingdom of God to this broken world. If the world experiences a little or a lot of heaven, don’t you think they’ll want more? Perhaps they’ll even want to go there one day! Give them a foretaste of perfect peace, love, unity and power because if they taste some of what God’s kingdom has to offer, I'm convinced they'll want to know the Ruler of that Kingdom. We represent Him. If we pour our lives out to seek first the Kingdom of God, we will influence the kingdoms of this world.
We need to help our children understand that a complete surrender to Christ doesn't mean they have to become missionaries or senior pastors.
100% surrender to Christ may mean that they found the next Microsoft or create a new dance style that will rock society. Perhaps they'll build a multimillion dollar company that will fund their church or inner city outreach. Perhaps, filled with the power of God, they'll be launched into professional athletics or ground-breaking humanitarian efforts. Will the next Rembrandt or Monet come out of our Sunday school classes? Will the next Mother Teresa come out of our youth groups? Will the next great doctor come out of our nurseries? What about our next president or a general for our military?
What will be the fruit of all the outpourings of the Holy Spirit? We've experienced some serious moves in the past ten years. What churches will arise to change the world like the Church of Jerusalem? What businesses will evolve? What great justice issue will be fought? I don’t believe we've been clear about the character of the Holy Spirit and the “then what” once people have experienced His presence.
We've confined Him to the church buildings instead of releasing our congregations into the world to change it with Holy Spirit power.
