Do You Want To Burn For Jesus ?
I was inspired and provoked last week when one of our spiritual sons posted a worship clip from one of their youth ministry nights ( Thank You Timothy-Jarrod Williams) that Barb and I were part of during out last trip this past October. Timothy was singing I want to burn for you Jesus and this past couple of days in my reading I have come across some scriptures and insights in my devotional time that had me thinking about what it looks like to Burn for Jesus?
First I know that to burn for Jesus we need to have something to burn as Fire Falls On Sacrifice.
To Burn we have to continually feed the fire and I believe that is how we maintain a constant and white hot blaze in our hearts.
I found myself asking God how can I burn for you in such a way that all that see the fire in my heart are drawn to You?
Lord I pray that you would draw all those that truly want to burn for you would receive fresh new baptisms of fire every time they give you something to burn.
We know there is always more, Increase , Acceleration, We pray for More for more of your love, more of your goodness, more of who you are.
Let our lives be a consuming fire that as we position ourselves we will continually lay before you our bodies as a living sacrifice so that your fire will continue to burn in our hearts for all to see that it is not what we do. It is Who We Are !
Sacrifice has to cost you Something Do you Want To Burn For Jesus ?
2 Samuel 23:13-17 (ESV)
13 And three of the thirty chief men went down and came about harvest time to David at the cave of Adullam, when a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim. 14 David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then at Bethlehem. 15 And David said longingly, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!” 16 Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and carried and brought it to David. But he would not drink of it. He poured it out to the Lord 17 and said, “Far be it from me, O Lord, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went at the risk of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.
Hebrews 12:26-29The Message (MSG)
25-27 So don’t turn a deaf ear to these gracious words. If those who ignored earthly warnings didn’t get away with it, what will happen to us if we turn our backs on heavenly warnings? His voice that time shook the earth to its foundations; this time—he’s told us this quite plainly—he’ll also rock the heavens: “One last shaking, from top to bottom, stem to stern.” The phrase “one last shaking” means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.
28-29 Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed.
God himself is Fire!
A Living Sacrifice to God
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)
12 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
