9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
10 He also says,
“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end.”
To walk our lives and minister in a true Kingdom Culture we should not only carry the presence of God but we should also manifest the same characteristics as Jesus did.
Jesus was given a greater measure of the Oil of Joy and I believe if we are pursuing God and a deeper relationship with Jesus then as we will also flow with the oil of Joy
"The oil of joy" is a revelation of what joy does for us. Listen if we love what God loves, hate what He hates, are living righteously then the oil of joy should be applied to your life.
The oil and what it accomplishes will be apparent. Some results of joy in and on our lives should reflect.
. Softness - Oil softened - we think the more righteous we become the harder we become, grumpier we become, less fun we become. When we are anointed with joy we should be softer folks. Our hearts of stone should be turned to soft hearts of flesh!
b. Sweet Fragrance - Oil perfumed - When you are anointed with joy you should smell different! People should smell you coming. Your life should have a different fragrance. They should welcome your arrival rather than avoid or dread your appearance.
c. Beauty - Oil is a beautifier. The Easterners did not think they were fit to attend a banquet until they first washed their face and anointed themselves with perfumed oil. They would apply/anoint themselves with oil until they had oil dripping from their hair and their faces were shining bright. How many of you know that joyful people are more beautiful? How many of you know that you are better looking when you are full of joy? We can say we have joy but we do not reflect it . That is the evidence of the oil of joy! Where verve we Go we should shine and drip the oil of Joy.
d. Healing - Finally, the Eastern mode of medicine was generally the application of oil! Do you remember what the hero in the parable of Good Samaritan used to doctor the man who had fallen among thieves? He poured on oil and wine! Oil heals. If we are anointed with the oil of joy, then we should be producing healing in those around us!
- A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
So are you oily?
Are you anointed?
Do you love what He loves?
Do you hate what He hates?
Are you softer, perfumed, more beautiful, and healing?
Are you anointed with joy?
